Welcome!
First of all, I would like to point out the new navigation menu to the right of your screen, a big navigation improvement! If you do not see it, look for a group of four tiny squares and click that to expand the side panel. You can click the squares to minimize it again if you need a little more room for the main screen. I have tried to put just about everything in the menu so you can Find it Fast! Well I didn't put everything there, but all the major areas, and from each of those you can find the rest. It is a bit of a site map for you.
I also want to mention the "link tree" or "bread crumb trail" at the top left, just under the curls. This does pretty good at telling you what your location is in our site. ICHO will always take you back to the front page, FORUM will take you to the index listing of the ICHO Discussion Forum (formerly known as the Curly Community). And I think you can figure out the rest
You will notice that the old site pages are gone, and much has been reworked into the new site. Some pages are still in the works and will be coming soon, and new pages are planned too. The new structure is in place and ready to be built upon! Please update any of your bookmarks, links, or favorites. Also, let me know if any links are not working properly. I might have missed some
One thing I want to emphasize, is the interactive nature of this site. This is not simply a brochure site, or information site, or even a social site. It is a collaborative, interactive, work site! We need YOU to contribute and be a part of this Curly Collaborative effort. Your contributions will make the Curly industry so much richer as our individual efforts and knowledge are brought together and put into focus. Combined, we can accomplish and learn so much more!
It is quite easy to contribute. Registered users will have some 'tools' at their disposal, they can upload files, and articles. Tools are at the end of the menu on the right. Feel free to try these out, you won't break anything. Users can also create their own photo galleries, or add to some of our existing albums. For example we currently have a BLM album to document the BLM Curlies and which herd area they come from. Its a great way to let pictures tell the story and document research and other projects. Feel free to start your own album, they can be private or public, you choose. The Calendar and Links are other ways you can contribute to our network of knowledge.
ICHO members can join Committees, Research Projects, or Associations and contribute in that way. There will be discussion boards just for these working groups. If you are interested, please contact us or post a note on the relative board.
We hope you enjoy the new look and functions of the revised site. I would like to note that the site looks and works best in FireFox. There is one little bug in IE which produces a scroll bar at the bottom of your screen for no real reason. All that is over there is a blank page with the curly graphic at the top. So mostly you can ignore that scroll bar. Also IE renders some of the font in larger size than FireFox. Just FYI!
