Invitation to the 2009 ICHO Annual Convention
More details...
Julie and Terry Schmidt, Oh Boy and the rest of their herd invite ya’ll to come on down to sunny Orange Park, Florida for the 2009 Annual Convention to be held November 5-8 (after the hurricanes and bugs are gone and when the weather’s great, the flights are cheap, and the lines are the shortest at Disney World). Come and enjoy a weekend with curly horses and curly horse people, learn some new things about horses in general, ride gaited curly horses, and meet curly horse people you’ve only known through e-mails all these years.
~Terry
Update on NACHIP!
We're having a NACHIP inspection on Friday morning with several breeders bringing their horses in to be inspected. For those of you who live close enough to trailer a horse to north Florida, this will be your best opportunity to have your horse inspected. The judge will be Mary Donald. Mary is an approved judge by the Morgan, Rocky Mountain, Kentucky Mountain, and Peruvian breeds and by FOSH.
To see what a great time was had by all, visit the Gallery and view the
ICHO 2009 Convention album
. Big thanks to Gina for the photos and video. Anyone else with pics are encouraged to upload to the album to share.
Check out the video of Jimmy and Drifter!

Florida. hmmm... a long long way from Montana. However, I'd like to try to get there for the convention. My biggest problem is that it is during the school calendar year. I think I'd like to try hosting the convention in a few years...

I am going to start a special savings account and request the time off. I'd really love to go to Florida again. It has been years! However, I don't think I'll drive--so I won't be bringing a horse.

I found that Continental Airlines offer the best prices and itineraries for overseas visitors to the convention. And Jacksonville works as good as Orlando. See www.continental.com.
Their multiple destinations option is the best! After doing your itinerary, just scroll down to the bottom if you want to change anything. Tweak around with the dates untill you found the best fare. Right now I am looking at Oslo-Kansas City-San Francisco-Jacksonville-and fly out from Atlanta back to Oslo. NOK 6049/person (Euro 665).
OK, if you fly from London to Orlando and back again you might get a better price with another airline, check www.opodo.co.uk.

I just have to share that now we have bought tickets, for Alf, baby Sam and I, to come to the ICHO convention 5-8th November in Florida!
I am so excited! I hope to see as many as possible of you there :-) Start looking for tickets now. If any have good tips for cheap domestic air travel, please share. For us, Continental Airlines was cheapest, but that was from overseas. And Jacksonville was actually cheaper than Orlando.
Here is the information about the convention: http://www.curlyhorses.org/index.php?topic=500.0
Click the Convention Packet link to download to see the convention schedule, I am so impressed with the schedule that Terry and Julie have put together, oh this is going to be soo fun and educational too!
NACH Inspection, Comanche Riding by Mitch, presentation from a PhD about the latest knowledge about feeds, hay and grasses for horses, clicker training demonstration, barefoot trimming (did I forget anything now?), and LOTS of riding opportunities on Terry and Julie's gaited curlies, and of course eating (just look at the suppers!) and socializing, and at last but not least ICHO business.
Bring you families, and if your better part and kids rather would go to Disney World, Sea World and whatever (actually I have been to Universal Studios myself once, that was pretty cool) than talking horses, that's just a couple of hours away, see www.orlandoattractions.com.

Hey Lene!
We are actually going to see if we can fly down for the convention for the first time ever. Just chatting with Anna and she says you have our awesome Prince Trevino! That's cool!! Hope we can make it and catch up with all of you finally.

I should be there ! Yeah !
Now, I have to see if I am coming alone or with my dear hubby (who is very tempted but does not know if it is something possible to add to his agenda...)
I will flight directly to Jacksonville, from Burlington, VT (which is one hour drive from our place).
